Online Therapy for Teenagers
Teletherapy for High-Achieving Teens in Florida and Iowa

You have so much to be proud of as a parent: your child does well in school, is involved in all kinds of activities, and has good friends.

But lately, you’ve started to worry if they’re really as “okay” as they might say they are.

Motivated, intelligent teenagers often struggle with anxiety, ADHD, or OCD. They begin to isolate themselves from friends and family, struggle to set boundaries with school and their peers, suffer from poor sleep,
let their grades slip, and more.

This is a hard thing to witness as a parent, especially when your child is so full of potential! But I have good news: it doesn’t have to stay like this. Teletherapy can help.

I specialize in supporting high-achieving teens who want a real,
down-to-earth therapist they trust and feel comfortable with.

Frequently Asked Questions About Online Therapy for Teenagers

+ What are sessions like?

Our first session will be 75 minutes long, with parent(s) present for the first 30 minutes. From there, your teen and I will begin to unpack what’s happening in their life and establish a treatment plan that will guide how we work together. Trust is critical to effective therapy, so I will also focus on establishing rapport and ensuring we are a good fit in our first few sessions. We will meet weekly for 45 minutes via a 100% private, HIPAA-compliant video platform.

+ How involved do I get to be in my teen's therapy?

The trust your teen and I build is essential. Therefore, I commit to 100% transparency with them when we begin working together. This means that if you and I have a conversation regarding their treatment, I will let them know. If ever we discuss something during a session that needs to be shared with you, I will offer them the opportunity to tell you themselves before making a call.

It is incredibly important to me that your teen feels like therapy is a safe, comfortable place, and I will do everything to ensure that happens. That said, I am always willing to speak with you in regards to their treatment when necessary, and recommend that your teen be included in those conversations as well.

+ How long does my teen need to be in teletherapy?

My goal is always for my clients to leave therapy feeling confident in their own skills and abilities, not reliant on their therapist. The time it takes to accomplish this varies from teenager to teenager. If the challenge they’re experiencing is related to a very specific event or area of their life, we may only work together for 3-6 months. Often, however, I end up supporting teens for a year or more as they navigate new challenges and prepare to transition into adulthood.

+ How often will you meet with my teen?

In the beginning, we will meet weekly in order to establish our relationship and the groundwork for treatment, then reassess as we go. Sometimes clients will drop down to every other week or once a month — whatever is needed in order for them to maintain the support that is best for them.

+ Is online therapy as effective as in-person therapy?

Yes! Studies have shown teletherapy has the same results as in-person treatment for both anxiety and depression (link). I find teenagers usually love the flexibility online therapy provides; they can meet with me where they are most comfortable, and never have to worry about sitting in an awkward waiting room or moving around their schedule (or yours!) to get to and from sessions.
